The LLF hosts a 90-minute event on financing biodiversity in Marseille. It assembles representatives from public and private institutions, from park managements and NGOs who discuss strengths and challenges of innovative financing models.

Marseille, France – Join the partners BMZ, AFD, KfW and IUCN and other representatives from around the world to discuss what is needed to close the global funding gap for halting biodiversity loss and find out how the LLF as new instrument can effectively contribute.
This session will elaborate on how to close the global funding gap to safeguard biodiversity in the future and how the LLF adds a new dimension to nature protection with its partnership model, vision for perpetuity and flexible mechanism for innovative conservation financing. A keynote speech will be given by Dr. Gerd Müller, German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development. Two panels will bring together public and private donors, implementing NGOs, and park management authorities to discuss how long-term and flexible financing can best meet on-the ground needs; and how it may enhance the resilience against external shocks to efficiently secure long-term protection of landscapes and their ecosystem services.
Speakers of the session will Christiane Laibach (KfW), Bertrand Walckenaer (AFD), Aileen Lee (Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation), Stefanie Lang (LLF) and James Hardcastle (IUCN Global Protected Areas Programme) amongst other international participants.
The event will be live onsite at the conference but also streamed and recorded to a broader audience.
