A panel of international experts will explore the threefold impact of long-term financing for protected areas for biodiversity conservation, climate change mitigation, and building sustainable livelihoods.
Join us for coffee and breakfast while hearing from our rich panel of conservation specialists.
Patience Gandiwa, Director of International Conservation at Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority, will offer her firsthand perspective on the biodiversity gains offered by sustained financing of protected areas, and how reliable funding streams give park management the much-needed chance to plan their work and set goals for the future.
Batkhuyag Baldangombo, Mongolia Conservation Director at The Nature Conservancy, will discuss the boon to local livelihoods and human rights provided by secure, perpetual funding to outstanding conservation sites.
Padu Franco, Regional Director for the Andes-Amazons at Wildlife Conservation Society, will offer his perspective on the crucial intersection of long-term protected area conservation and urgent climate change mitigation strategies, and how an understanding of this nexus is necessary to protect both biodiversity and the climate.
