Yesterday, at the 30×30 leaders’ event at the United Nations, German Minister for the Environment Carsten Schneider announced a tri-lateral 300 Million USD contribution to Legacy Landscapes Fund.
Germany, the Rob Walton Foundation and the Wyss Foundation will each provide 100 Million USD to this partnership. This is a major effort in times of scarce resources for conservation and shows how strong public-private partnerships can make a difference.
Legacy Landscapes Fund is honored by this strong sign of trust in our organization. This shows that programmatic long-term funding to the most important natural places on earth can contribute impactfully and efficiently to the 30×30 goal. Reliable funding is making a difference on the ground because conservation that lasts needs funding that lasts.
This major contribution will help to grow LLF’s portfolio in Africa and fund key biodiversity areas for at least 50 years into the future. Through local government partners, NGOS and local communities, LLF will ensure benefits for nature, climate and people – keeping ecosystems functioning and protecting landscapes which are the canvas for all life.
LLF thanks Minister Schneider and Minister Alabali Radovan as well as the Wyss and the Rob Walton Foundations for this exceptional leadership, trust and visionary partnership!
